Our Institute for Earth System Predictions (IESP) is looking for a new position of postdoc/junior scientist (depending on demonstrated expertise), located in Bologna, to support activities of sub-seasonal to seasonal forecast, with a special focus on Early Warning Systems (EWS).
The postdoc/junior scientist is responsible for the implementation and validation of EWS tools in Venice and for the interaction with MedEWSa project partners, mainly focusing on the extension of the existent sea level Early Warning System to the sub-seasonal time horizon.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The postdoc/junior scientist is responsible of:
Developing the tools to extend the Venice EWS to the sub-seasonal time horizon in collaboration with Centro Previsioni e Segnalazioni Maree del Comune di Venezia;
Monitoring the advancement of the MedEWSA project and the CMCC relationship with other partners (special focus on African partners, participating to the Sea Level EWS Twin);
Preparing relative software, ready to be shared, and managing relative technical reports;
Supporting CMCC colleagues in the development of a Machine Learning based prototype for a sea level EWS;
Producing scientific papers based on the activities carried out during the project.
