Organization: International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) Position: Senior Policy Advisor and Lead, Renewables Duty Station: Flexible in time zones overlapping with standard work hours with Central European Time by at least 4 hours Deadline for Application: 8 July 2022

Experience Requirements: The successful applicant will work on developing IISD Energy’s strategy for facilitating government support for renewables and using it to leverage finance and private sector investment in renewables. They will look at increasing the role of government support to renewables in job creation, just transition, and economic diversification in economies currently dependent on fossil fuels. We are looking for candidates with a minimum of ten years of experience in one or several of the following areas: renewable energy finance issues at both the policy and project levels, including the key international vehicles and trends; enabling policies for clean energy transitions, such as reforms of energy pricing, subsidies, and taxes; evaluation of social costs and benefits of various energy technologies; aligning renewable energy development with poverty eradication and social inclusion. The successful applicant will demonstrate ability to think critically and learn fast. Experience working in emerging and developing economies will be considered a strong advantage. They will bring to IISD strong network of contacts with international stakeholders promoting clean energy. Policy research experience is mandatory as are confident and engaging communication skills, including an understanding of different communications approaches for different audiences. The position requires excellent organizational, planning, project and people management skills. Fundraising skills would be an asset.
