You will use your theoretical knowledge to practice and work hands-on on different projects with your strategic and analytic skills. Our new colleague has an economic or finance background and experience in the field of biodiversity, climate change and/or sustainable development. Is that you?

Main activities

  • Actively contribute to the strategic development of GRID-Arendal’s projects and programmes.
  • Develop reports focusing on sustainable finance for nature and conservation of marine and coastal biodiversity, including blue forests.
  • Play a key role in large-scale projects and helping with analysing data.
  • Combine research and analysis to build a knowledge base on sustainable finance for nature related to the conservation of blue forests or sustainable ocean governance.
  • Work closely with other staff to ensure that GRID-Arendal delivers high-quality outcomes, focusing on supporting developing countries to address the impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss on the oceans and coastal communities.
  • Development of innovative technical reports for stakeholders, new donors, and external partners.
  • Share knowledge internally with the team, develop a strong team culture, and guide and coach/mentor internal resources.
  • Give lectures and public presentations, publish work, and develop new methods or tools recognized by partners.
  • Sometimes, flexibility is required in making yourself available after working hours. Because we are working with people from across the globe in different time zones, some travel will be required.
Special Requirements
Professional Qualifications – Master’s degree or equivalent in environmental economics, finance, or related field – 2 -3 years of relevant experience related to sustainable finance for nature – Experience with project management, particularly projects related to the marine environment – Experience working with the UN system or other international development organizations is beneficial – A solid professional network – An understanding of the importance of communications in project development and results dissemination – Excellent communication skills, including both written and spoken English – Knowledge of other languages, mainly French or Norwegian, would be an asset Personal skills – Team player and ability to work independently – Analytic, strategic, and organizational skills – High motivation and goal-oriented – Ability to pursue multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines – Networking capabilities and decision-making ability – Interpersonal skills and ability to work in an international and culturally diverse environment
