About Us

The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) is a policy and action research organisation promoting sustainable development and linking local priorities to global challenges. We are based in London and work across five continents with some of the world’s most vulnerable people to strengthen their voices in the decision-making arenas that affect them. With more than 150 members of staff working with associates and partners around the world, IIED has been at the forefront of evidence-based policymaking in sustainable development for over 50 years.

The LDC Initiative for Effective Adaptation and Resilience (LIFE-AR) is an LDC (Least Developed Countries) led and owned initiative with the objective of developing long-term climate adaptation delivery mechanisms that enable investment behind local priorities, strengthening national institutions, domestic systems and capabilities, and influencing the climate finance architecture to improve LDCs’ ability to access climate finance for transformational adaptation. IIED is currently acting as the interim Secretariat for LIFE-AR.

We are now looking for one Project Support Officer to join us on a full-time basis for a two-year fixed-term contract, working 35 hours per week.

– 25 days’ annual leave per year
– Closure between Christmas and New Year with additional paid holiday
– 7.5% employer’s pension contributions
– An employee protection scheme offering a flexible menu of benefits
– An interest-free season-ticket loan

The Role

As a Project Support Officer, you will support the LIFE-AR Interim Secretariat Team by providing comprehensive administrative, co-ordination, and financial support.

You will be responsible for the co-ordination of LIFE-AR events and meetings, supporting the contractual, administrative, logistical, and financial aspects of LIFE-AR, and ensuring the smooth co-ordination of the team and internal systems/processes.

Additionally, you will:

– Provide logistical support for online and in person events, such as booking meeting and events venues, arranging travel, and handling communication with participants
– Assist with drafting partner and consultant subcontracts and ensure contract information is up to date on the system
– Process payment requests from service providers, reviewing relevant documentation and saving this on SharePoint
– Maintain project and team sites on SharePoint
– Schedule LIFE-AR meetings, share meeting agendas, arrange minute-takers and interpretation if needed, and follow up on action points
– Support the recruitment of suppliers and consultants

About You

To be considered as a Project Support Officer, you will need:

– Experience in a similar service, administration, or project support role

The closing date for this role is 23rd October 2024.

IIED is a hybrid working organisation and you are likely to be working from home most of the time or a mixture of both office and home. Therefore, you will need a suitable place to work and a reliable, fast internet connection. Please note, you can choose to be fully office based. We have an office in both London and Edinburgh.

Other organisations may call this role Project Administrator, Programme Support Officer, or Project Co-ordinator.

IIED is a Global organisation that serves the Global Majority. We are committed to equity of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where all belong. We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in IIED’s workforce including members of minority groups and those with lived experience of the work we do. Even if you don’t satisfy all the criteria, we still encourage you to apply, as we will offer training and development to upskill the right candidate for the role.
