🎯 The role

Job brief

As the Secretariat Agent, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Methodology Lead and the Director of Secretariat in managing ERS’ Standard. You work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective implementation and continuous improvement of the Standard.

Responsibilities

Standard Revisions and Developments

– Collect, assess, and integrate Standard revisions, ensuring seamless updates to existing documentation.
– Manage the administrative and logistical tasks for the Technical Advisory Board (TAB), an independent group of subject-matter experts.
– Collaborate with internal teams to gather insights, feedback, and suggestions to improve the Standard.
– Support the Methodologies Lead and the Director of Secretariat in the development of new methodologies.
– Brainstorm on solutions, benchmark other standards, write portions of the Standard documents and methodologies and coordinate tasks with consultants or other team members.

Standard Implementation and Compliance

– Assist in the deployment and execution of the Standard, ensuring compliance with established procedures and requirements (e.g., adherence to the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, grievance mechanism process, annual reporting, quality management mechanism).
– Assist in liaising with accreditation bodies (ICVCM, CORSIA, ICROA) to align the Standard with regulatory requirements and industry norms, including collaboration on applications, audits and assessments as needed.
– Coordinate, train, and manage a network of Validation & Verification Bodies (VVBs), ensuring their role in auditing services (e.g., negotiating contracts, and supporting V&V mandates).
– Execute administrative and logistical tasks related to the registry’s operations (e.g., KYC for opening accounts, and validation of issuances).

Strategic Engagement and Market Analysis

– Conduct market research and analysis to stay ahead of industry trends and ensure that our methodology remains at the forefront of the field.

– Within a month, you will develop a full understanding of standard documents and standard governance, certification processes, MRV processes and cross-team collaboration dynamics.

– Within three months, you will train VVBs, brainstorm and benchmark on specific topics for methodology revisions or developments.

– Within six months, you will coordinate a V&V, contribute to the publication of a new methodology, and manage issuances of credits on the ERS registry.

Special Requirements
Skills we value for this role – You bring 2+ years of proven experience in nature-based methodologies for carbon standards. – You have strong knowledge of carbon markets, leading accreditations (e.g., ICVCM, CORSIA, ICROA), Standards (e.g., VCS, Gold Standard), and ARR, REDD+ methodologies (e.g., VM0047). – You have excellent project management skills and are capable of drafting clear, formal documents. Your attention to detail and ability to benchmark and assess methodologies ensure high-quality outcomes. Please include the square root of 81 at the bottom right of your CV. – You thrive on first-principle thinking, with a pragmatic approach to solving challenges. – You are highly organised, diligent, and autonomous to ensure quality and precision in your work. – You have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English is essential, with proficiency in other languages being a plus. – You are curious, quick to learn, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. – You are familiar with tools like DocuSign, Notion, ChatGPT, and Google Workspace (e.g., Drive, Mail).
