Qualifications

• Experience: At least six years of experience in energy topics of which at least two years grassroots/field organizing, and/or advocacy on public policy.
• Good understanding and experience of campaigning and/or policy work. Pan-European campaign experience and experience with organizing, advocacy and legislative strategy; familiarity with EU institutions, policies and legislative process is highly desirable. knowledge of consumer and environmental issues; experience working with the media.
• Knowledge of food, water, climate and energy issues is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt for a variety of audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building new relationships and an ability to work well with a wide variety of people and to coordinate diverse tasks in an often high-pressured environment.
• Ability to present technical concepts to a mass audience.
• Ability to think creatively and quickly to respond to legislative developments and to take advantage of breaking news.
• Demonstrated leadership capability.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Works well under pressure and is capable of multitasking efficiently.
• Knowledge of online activism/social media and email listservs a plus.
• Strong initiative, ability to manage own work program without close supervision.
• Good level of administrative skills required.
• Conditions: Flexible and independent working style, with long hours and travel possible.
• Language: Excellent English writing, public speaking and presentation skills, ideally along with fluency in other European languages.

Special Requirements
Duties and responsibilities • In coordination with the rest of the team, build a strong base of organizations and individuals in support of our energy campaigns. • Liaise and maintain contacts with EU-level, national and local allies in the fight against fracking and fossil gas. • Carry out a broad range of tasks such as organizing events and gatherings, advocacy meetings, collection and amplification of testimonies on fossil gas. • Follow relevant EU-level processes and connect with EU decision makers as well as with campaigners elevating relevant fossil gas and false solution developments on a national level. • Provide research on policy and advocacy issues. • Coordinate and develop coalitions on campaign issues and implement grassroots organizing to support joint activities by members of the Beyond Gas Network. • Maintain familiarity with a diverse set of issues and research products, and respond to information requests from activists, coalition members, policy makers and media. • Develop education materials such as factsheets, action alerts, web site content and newsletter articles on various campaign issues. • Monitoring and assessing EU, German and other countries policy and legislation on fossil gas, gas imports and infrastructure as well as false solutions. • Attend and speak at meetings and public events, as relevant. • In connection with the US team, lead on taking strategic, political decisions defining the work plans of the Europe team. • Draft and support writing grants. • Oversee/lead on several administrative tasks (support with implementing HR procedures, liaise with human resources, lead hirings, point person for admin requests in the building and the team etc). • Liaise with the FWW finance, HR and management team. • Lead and organize the regular team meetings, one-to-ones and bigger strategic team meetings. • Other duties as assigned by the line manager. • Reports to Food & Water Watch Deputy Director.
