To this end, the community has established the Securing Minerals for the Energy Transition (SMET) initiative to accelerate policy dialogue, investment mobilisation, innovation and thought leadership across a global ecosystem.
Why we are Recruiting
SMET is scaling up activities, including around innovation and sustainability. The Lead will be responsible for innovation and sustainability. That will involve drafting concise written outputs, working with the Forum’s partners to iterate content, and providing accessible sustainability and innovation data insights to facilitate various dialogues. It will also involve tracking the evolving landscape around innovation, sustainability standards and traceability. In addition, Lead will liaise between the SMET team and the Forum’s Centre for Nature and Climate.
Reporting Lines and Interactions
The Lead will report to the Manager, Material Systems with collaboration across multiple teams at the Forum.
Externally, the work will involve interactions with a broad range of stakeholders and companies in the industry value chain, but also with relevant industry bodies and associations as well as public stakeholders.
Main responsibilities
Knowledge and project lead on sustainability, innovation and traceability of minerals value chain from extraction, to processing, manufacturing, use and disposal
Lead the development and delivery of workstreams related to sustainability, traceability, and innovation for minerals.
Drive knowledge generation by producing high-quality insights, reports, and briefing materials to inform decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
Design and manage collaborative projects with public and private sector partners, overseeing timelines, deliverables, and impact tracking.
Curate and deliver impactful sessions, workshops, and events that advance understanding and action on sustainable resource use, including within global or regional platforms.
Monitor trends and emerging issues across materials innovation, supply chain transparency and sustainability, and translate these into actionable opportunities.
