Want to be part of ensuring waterways are safe for shipping and free from marine pollution?

Canadian Ice Service Operations comprises a team of dedicated analysts and forecasters that use the latest satellite remote sensing technology to track sea ice, icebergs and oil spills in Canadian waters. If you are passionate about remote sensing, supporting federal agencies domestically and internationally, and working in a collaborative operational environment, we invite you to be part of our team!

The position consists of using a geographical information system (GIS) to interpret different satellite-based images (visible, infrared, and synthetic aperture radar (SAR)) to identify and analyze sea and lake ice. In addition, the analyst monitors Canadian waters for potential illegal pollution discharges and provides reports to responding agencies. The position also involves collaborating with, and participating in, scientific and technical research as a technician.
Analysts work on a 10 hours shift rotation from 6:00 to midnight, seven days a week, for an average of 37.5 hours per week.

Special Requirements
A proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency must be provided at a later date (birth certificate from a Canadian province or territory, valid Canadian passport, citizenship certificate or permanent resident card). People with a valid Canadian work permit residing temporarily in Canada can apply to the process but cannot receive an indeterminate/permanent job offer. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Canadian permanent residents residing either in Canada or abroad.
