Conservation International Philippines will be implementing the Philippines Pilot of the Accelerating Rapid Transition of Subsidies and Incentives (ARTSI) Initiative: Salt Industry Development and Blue Carbon Ecosystems – Directing Positive incentives for Blue Carbon Ecosystem Conservation in Coastal Salt Pond development. The ARTSI Program pilot will seek to direct positive incentives for mangrove restoration and conservation in salt production. The Mangrove Policy Coordinator will aid in implementing this pilot, coordinating efforts with national agencies, partners, and stakeholders. The Mangrove Policy Coordinator will also aid in the mangrove, blue carbon, and coastal ecosystems policy engagement of Conservation International Philippines under the supervision and guidance of the Philippines Policy Senior Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate policy engagement of the Philippines ARTSI Initiative Pilot with national agencies such as the Department of Agriculture Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and other key stakeholders, including the private sector engaged in coastal salt production and mangrove conservation.
Coordinate and aid in organizing workshops and consultations with the key stakeholders to gain inputs in drafting recommendations for incentives for mangrove-positive practices in salt production.
Occasional field engagement in the demonstration sites in Palawan and Oriental Mindoro.
Aid in drafting and submitting regular progress reports for monitoring and evaluation of the pilot.
Assist the Philippines Policy Senior Manager in mangrove, blue carbon, and coastal ecosystems policy engagement, including engagement on commitments for Blue Carbon Ecosystems in the Philippines Nationally Determined Contributions.
Aid in drafting policy research papers related to the ARTSI program and the policy areas mentioned above.
Contribute to internal reporting, donor inquiries, and communications.
Participate and contribute to the internal program planning.
Support an organizational culture that reflects CIPFI’s full spectrum programming of values, rights-based approach, gender responsiveness, accountability, and high performance.
Perform related duties as assigned.
