Climate Analytics is a global climate science and policy institute established in 2008 that delivers cutting-edge science, analysis and support to accelerate climate action and keep global warming below 1.5°C. Our international team is composed of roughly 140 staff. Half are based at our headquarters in Berlin, Germany, and the remainder work out of our five regional offices in Africa, Australia & Pacific, the Caribbean, South Asia and North America.

YOUR POSITION
The Finance Officer supports Climate Analytics’ mission by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant day-to-day financial operations across the organisation. Working under the supervision of the Head of Finance, the position contributes to sound financial management of projects, effective collaboration with internal stakeholders, and strong relationships with external service providers.

This is a mid-level position requiring solid technical accounting skills, strong organisational abilities, and the confidence to manage routine finance processes independently while escalating complex issues appropriately.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Accounting Operations & Cash Management
* Review and reconcile bank account activity on a regular basis
* Monitor bank balances and support short-term cash flow forecasting
* Maintain complete, accurate documentation for all financial transactions

Accounts Payable & Receivable
* Manage end-to-end accounts payable processes, including invoice review, compliance checks, ERP entry, and timely vendor payments
* Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding and upcoming payments in coordination with project managers and finance colleagues

Payroll, Taxes & Recurring Payments
* Execute recurring monthly payment obligations, including payroll, tax and social security payments, leases, and other standing commitments
* Liaise with banks on routine operational matters

External Accounting & Compliance
Prepare and provide monthly accounting information to external accountants and tax advisors
Ensure compliance with applicable governmental, regulatory, and donor requirements, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

Project Finance Support
* Support financial oversight of projects through preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and audit documentation
* Assist project managers with staff cost allocations, project monitoring, and financial reporting

Team Support
* Actively participate in improving finance processes and systems in a growing organisation
* Perform other finance-related duties as assigned

Special Requirements
YOUR PROFILE * Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field * Minimum 3 years’ professional experience in accounting or finance roles * Hands-on experience with ERP or accounting systems * Strong proficiency in MS Excel * Experience with project accounting and donor-funded projects in an international organisation is highly desirable * Ability to work accurately under deadlines, with a high level of autonomy and judgement * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with cultural sensitivity and professionalism * Proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated to improve systems and processes * Excellent written and spoken English (working language) * German language skills (B2 or higher) are an asset; additional languages are a plus OUR OFFER * A job with purpose.
