Overview: The campaign manager will lead the implementation of CAPE’s campaign to ban fossil fuel advertising at the federal, provincial and municipal levels, with a particular focus on advancing fossil ad bans in Quebec. This position is primarily remote but with occasional in-person events and meetings in Canada and potentially internationally.

About the Role: Reporting to the director of the health and economic policy program, andworking in close partnership with the manager of the health and economic policy program and the communications and campaigns teams, the ad ban campaign manager will lead the implementation of CAPE’s campaign to ban fossil fuel advertising at the federal, provincial and municipal levels, with a particular focus on advancing fossil ad bans in Quebec.
In this role, they will identify political opportunities and blockages, collaboratively develop a strategic campaign plan and lead the development and implementation of strategies and tactics to influence public policies to restrict advertising of health harming fossil fuel products and industries.
The manager will build relationships with government officials and political leaders, as well as with coalition members and other environmental and health groups, and will engage CAPE physicians across regional committees and the CAPE board of directors. Other tasks include the coordination of lobbying efforts and the development of communications materials to engage
with decision makers, doctors and the public (policy briefs, social media posts, etc.).
- Analyze existing legislation, regulation and policies and strategically propose how to advance campaign goals,
- Build relations with municipal, provincial and federal government leaders
Convene partner organizations and participate in existing coalitions to advance campaign goals, - Support partner health and environmental organizations in campaign-related initiatives,
- Collaboratively develop and lead implementation of the campaign strategy to influence fossil ad ban policies at the federal, provincial and municipal level,
- Support and organize public events, webinars, conferences and other strategic campaign activities
- Draft and edit written materials for the campaign including content for the website social media, the press and policy briefs
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organization and support physicians as spokespeople.
- Potentially supervise staff and manage contracts with consultants
- Support CAPE organizational objectives as needed
Required skills
- Creative and Strategic thinking
- Five years experience in non-profit advocacy
- Knowledge of climate and environmental policy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
- Social media skills (audio-visual production skills an asset)

Working Environment & Expectations
- 30-hour work week: CAPE provides a flexible and supportive work environment with a standard 30-hour work week (20 hours for part-time employees)
- Flexible scheduling: Employees have flexible scheduling, provided they are available for meetings with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required in addition to our annual staff retreat
