CMCC Foundation is a cross-cutting scientific research center on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers. Our work aims to stimulate sustainable growth, protect the environment, and develop strategies for the adaptation and mitigation of climate change.

Our Institute for Climate Resilience (ICR) is looking for a new position of Climate Resilience Researcher, located in Venice, responsible for contributing to in the ongoing international/European research projects in the field of risk governance, disaster resilience, civil protection, disaster risk reduction, and climate adaptation.

The Climate Resilience Researcher will be involved in the ongoing international/European research projects in the field of risk governance, disaster resilience, civil protection, disaster risk reduction, and climate adaptation.

The Climate Resilience Researcher is responsible of:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis in the field of multi and systemic risk governance.
  • Assist in the development of innovative frameworks and methodologies to assess and evaluate disaster and climate risks.
  • Conduct risk management capabilities assessments to identify resilience pathways.
  • Assist in the development of policy recommendations for better risk governance/climate resilience and evidence-informed decision-making processes.
  • Support stakeholders’ engagement initiatives to strengthen the science-policy interface and promote cross-sectoral collaboration among key actors in the field of DRR/CCA.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners to design and implement EU-funded projects focused on risk governance and climate resilience.
Special Requirements
PhD degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Urban Policies and Planning, Political Science (or similar subjects) with good knowledge of disaster/climate risk management, or as an alternative, at least 5 years relevant working experience in the field of disaster risk management/climate change adaptation with a comparable publication record; Background in or good knowledge and experience in disaster risk management, civil protection and climate change adaptation; experience in collaborating with public institutions and key stakeholders in the field of disaster risk management and climate change adaptation, experience in conducting risk assessments; Quantitative skills, including geospatial analysis (knowledge of programming in R and Python is not strictly required but would be an asset); Very good knowledge of English, knowledge of other foreign languages is an asset; Experience and attitude towards interdisciplinary team working; Good communication skills; Strong problem-solving attitude.
