Climate Change Jobs

– M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Meteorology and Physics of the Atmosphere or Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent field; – Experience in pre-and post-processing of huge weather datasets; – Expert in analysing weather data with the most common software environment for statistical computing and graphics (e.g. R CRAN, MatLab, Python); – Expert in management of different data format such as netCDF (network Common Data Form), Hierarchical Data Format (HDF), Binary Universal Form for the Representation of meteorological data (BUFR), standard binary format for exchanging gridded data (GRIB); – Experience with software for processing, visualization and analysis of weather/climate data (e.g. wgrib, wgrib2, ilwis, QGIS, CDO); – knowledge of most common S.O. such as Linux, Unix, Dos; – Knowledge of SQL language for the management of data in relational databases and the HTML language; – Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team. Proficient verbal and written communication in English.
