The position consists of using a geographical information system (GIS) to interpret different satellite-based images (visible, infrared, and synthetic aperture radar (SAR)) to identify and analyze sea and lake ice. In addition, the analyst monitors Canadian waters for potential illegal pollution discharges and provides reports to responding agencies. The position also involves collaborating with, and participating in, scientific and technical research as a technician.
Analysts work on a 10 hours shift rotation from 6:00 to midnight, seven days a week, for an average of 37.5 hours per week.
