The Earth Commons; Georgetown University’s Institute for Environment and Sustainability (ECo) invites applications for postdoctoral academic fellowships for start dates of Fall 2026. ECo Fellows will be expected to carry out interdisciplinary research on various aspects of environment and sustainability challenges and scholarship (e.g., climate and climate change, biodiversity conservation, food and water security, environmental justice). Applicants must propose to conduct interdisciplinary research with one or more Earth Commons faculty or affiliated faculty. Additionally, ECo Fellows will have one semester of teaching responsibilities in the Earth Commons Institute’s undergraduate BS-ES curriculum during their fellowship.
Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded for two years, although year two is contingent upon successful progress in year one. Appointment will commence in September 2026. In accepting the appointment, the fellow is expected to be in residence at Georgetown University except for absences agreed upon with mentor(s).
