The MEL and reporting manager is a new position created to help Health Care Without Harm’s global network develop comprehensive MEL plans that will allow the organization, programs, and cross-cutting vehicles to measure impact, outcomes and outputs while describing the transformation in health care that we are seeking and that we are achieving. The position is key in improving and running our work planning and reporting process globally and for key projects.
As part of this exercise and our annual work planning process, the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and Reporting Manager will work with HCWH regional offices, teams, and network partners to establish indicators, reference sheets, targets, and an overall MEL plan, training all stakeholders along the process and establishing reporting processes. The MEL manager will also work on innovative and practical techniques to monitor our work as a global network, while searching for unintended outcomes. This position will also coordinate funder reporting processes for the global team, ensuring that all stakeholders are submitting information for report writing and that data to report project level indicators is of quality and provides feedback to ensure processes are continuously improved.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Develop comprehensive MEL plans that include indicators and targets based on the global network’s strategic plan, currently under development. Develop an information system that will allow us to track progress for different outputs and outcomes.
– Working with programmatic directors and global team’s program assistant to run reporting and work planning processes, while improving them with regional offices and partners’ feedback.
– Develop a MEL budget that will include practical and innovative techniques to monitor and evaluate our work, including unintended outcomes.
– Champion a learning approach among program leaders, translating findings into key lessons for reflection and further program development.
– Train staff, regional offices and partners in the development of activities as they relate to theory of change objectives and goals, and for key projects as needed.
– Review project key performance indicators and reporting requirements to best inform donors of our achievements and lessons learned
– Work closely with the GGHH, climate, and sustainability teams, alongside with data scientist and climate learning initiatives coordinator to stay updated on project activities.
– Work closely with the development and the communications teams to ensure funders, network members, and other stakeholders are informed of our progress and a narrative of our outcomes is well communicated.
– Work closely with Development to pick up success stories and to systematize our complex tactical approaches into digestible theory of change.
